Welcome to Higham Ferrers Nursery and Infant School, Northants

"Together, we enjoy learning in a happy, caring and friendly environment"

This is a "Good" school and you will find us in the vibrant community of Higham Ferrers, near Rushden. Here, we strive to bring the best out of our children in an environment focused upon key values - Care, Respect, Share, Enjoy, Friendship. We pride ourselves in providing a creative and highly stimulating curriculum which we ensure is accessible to all children. This is delivered in a caring, safe and secure setting. Why not come and see our school in action - we warmly welcome you to visit us.

We have a very supportive parent community and we are very proud of our school and the achievement of our children. It is their creative talent and enthusiasm for learning that has resulted in us being recognised as a Good school by Ofsted.

Please use the navigation buttons above to move around our school site. If there is anything you think we ought to add, do let us know!

We look forward to your feedback!

Our Values

We want all of our pupils to know our values so that they can uphold them in the best way possible and recite them with a true and meaningful understanding of what they represent.  Our whole school community values are:

If you care, respect and share, you enjoy friendship

The children in our School Council have been busy this year.  They took up the challenge to be ‘Changemakers’ and decided to encourage their classmates to make healthy snack choices.  They noticed that lots of fruit was being left in the fruit bowls and started a Fruit Challenge with extra playtime for the class who had eaten the most at the end of each week.

To remind everyone about making healthy choices, the School Councillors held an assembly and showed the children how much sugar is hidden in foods like breakfast cereal and juice drinks.  Have a look at their display in the hall to see some healthier alternatives.

The children spent a morning in the Food Technology department at the Ferrers preparing snacks with lower sugar and healthy ingredients.  They made Raw Chocolate Energy Balls (sweetened with fruit), Cheesy Stars (a savoury alternative to a biscuit) and Kayden’s Minestrone Soup (full of veggies with pasta and beans too).  They brought these back to school for their classmates to taste.  The Reception children enjoyed some coconut and berry ices.  If you want to make these yourself at home, you can download the recipes.

At the beginning of the month, Janice Watkins from the University of Northampton joined us at one of our School Council meetings.  The children told her about their Healthy Eating project.  They were very proud to be awarded a Ruby ‘Changemaker Award’ which will be presented at the University on Wednesday 12th July.

Water Safety!

Our Cluster Council Representatives have been busy with other schools in our cluster, creating a Water Safety video.  They have worked on this project in conjunction with the University of Northampton.

Here at Higham Ferrers Nursery and Infant School, we believe that educating children about water safety is very important, along with other safety lessons.  As you know we are working with children on a variety of essential safety lessons, water safety being one of them.

Below is a fantastic video which includes our children and others from Rushden and Higham Schools
